But hopefully it will help someone so you don't have to buy a new ereader.Overdrive eBooks for Nook & Kobo devices with Eink screensĭownload Adobe Digital Editions for Windows or Mac from /solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html and install. And the best part is, you don't have to use Adobe at all! I realize that not all libraries use Overdrive or Libby and so this will not work for you. I clicked on that and as if by magic, it downloaded it directly to my Kobo. I clicked on that, and under "other options" Epub comes up. Checked out books have a menu attached to them, and one of the options is "Read with". I had a couple books on my wish list that came up as available, so checked them out. I downloaded the Libby platform on my laptop and thought I might as well give it a try. Now we are home again, and I knew I would have to get serious about looking into this. We went to FL for three months and I continued to use my Kobo, since Overdrive hadn't been discontinued yet. I started researching new eReaders, tablets etc but didn't really know what to do. I went to the Kobo website and it said they did not support Libby, so I figured I was done with Kobo. (I tried all the suggestions here and nothing worked!) Then this past winter, I found out Overdrive was going to be discontinued, and Libby would take it's place. There were a few older books that were ePub only and would have to read those on my laptop, as my Kobo would always give me the error message about ADE. Not sure why they can't work together! For awhile, I had no problems with my Kobo as it had the Overdrive app on it, and most of the books I wanted to check out worked with Overdrive from my library. I have been following this thread for a couple of years now, and was extremely frustrated with both Kobo and Adobe.

i am trying to work with them now to get a software patch. Here is something i got from kobo, but it takes forever. Hope this works for you all like it did for me! Its an annoying solution but I'm hoping that now that the setup is done I shouldn't have to worry about the struggles of simply reading a library book anymore. Download the EPUBs of the books you checked out and import into ADE and into your eReader as you normally should be able to.I found that I could not just re-download books I had already checked out and add them into ADE. Check out any books you may want to read AFTER you have changed your email address with your library.Un-authorize both your ereader and your ADE from your regular email address and re-authorize with the new email address.Change your email address in your library account to be the new email address.Create a new adobe account with this same new email address. This way you shouldn't constantly have to check this new email if you get reminders about due dates or holds from your library. I created something like Set up this new email to automatically forward to your regular email. Create a new email (gmail, hotmail, whatever your preference). Its annoying and seems completely unneccessary to have to do it this way but it works. This worked for me for a little while and recently stopped working.
